Group calls for state investigation of Anaheim | The Orange County Register

REPORT: Tensions arising from two recent fatal shootings by police continue, with more arrests and a ninth consecutive day of protests. On Sunday, nine people were arrested during separate demonstrations in Orange County's largest city. A news conference is planned for 11 a.m. Monday in downtown Los Angeles outside the office of California State Attorney General Kamala Harris.

"We want to see a thorough investigation into the Anaheim police and its actions in the last couple of years," said Ana Perez of Presente.org, a Berkeley-based online activist organization that focuses on Latino issues.

The online organization has gathered nearly 18,000 signatures to ask Harris to review the actions of the police department, which included firing pepper balls and rubber bullets during protests that turned violent in recent days. The city has already asked the Office of Independent Review from Los Angeles and the FBI to review six officer-involved shootings, including two fatal shootings a week ago.
