The Critic Corner: Innocence Blood (2011)

Here is the official first post of the re-launched The Critic Corner! For the first post, I present the film Innocence Blood starring Jun Seong Kim, C.S. Lee, and Doug Jones directed by DJ Holloway and Sun W. Kim.

The synopsis according to the film’s site www.innocenceblood.com is as follows:

“Sun W. Kim and D.J. Holloway, behind several award winning short films, make their feature film debut with Innocence Blood. The suspense thriller tells the story of James Park, a retired detective turned college professor, who is forced to face his dark past in order to find his son Cody’s kidnapper. James Park, played by Jun-Seong Kim (Manchu, West 32nd), a well decorated, officer is exposed for who he really is by his son’s mysterious kidnapper. With a handful of past enemies, simultaneous murders, a wife who’s losing faith in him, and two detectives in hot pursuit, James must move fast to bring his son home safely.”

The movie is currently in Post Production preparing for its presentation at the Sundance Film Festival. This indie film though needs your support in completing. The producers launched a fundraiser via Indie GoGo with a goal of $30,000 to reach by November 16, 2011, I believe. As of October 12, they have raised $1,135. They need your help! By why should you care? Here’s why:

“Innocence Blood was born out of a film festival called Talent One Media, aka the T.O.M. film festival, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) founded by Sun W. Kim. The festival, held annually in Little Tokyo Downtown Los Angeles is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for social issues. The festival’s focus has largely been on ending human trafficking and poverty with several key partnerships with local and global NPOs. The film festival doesn’t give out awards; it’s all about building community, awareness, and celebrating the artistry of the filmmakers. Talent One Media’s Event Director and one of the film’s producers, Johnny Byul Lee, works closely with groups who bring victim services and safety centers to women and children who were among the staggering 27 million slaves throughout the world, including the U.S. A portion of the proceeds from the film will be directly donated to support these efforts in South East Asia.”
